Max Mannix Biography

Max Mannix (b. 1939, Nyah West, Victoria) is an Australian artist known for his warm and humour tinged depictions of country life. Drawing upon experiences from his youth, growing up in Victorian country towns and later working on cattle stations in outback Queensland, Mannix crafts storytelling paintings filled with “characters,” light laughter, and everyday rural realism.

His works are predominantly in oil on specially prepared canvas board, though he also uses acrylics, pen and ink, etchings, and figurative sculpture. Exhibited in numerous solo and group shows, his paintings are numerous in private, corporate, and international collections.
