Valuation and Appraisals

The seller has a choice as to whether they would like to pay the reduced fee to have their painting valued and authenticated.  If they have, then this will be listed above the price.

Once purchased, the buyer will be offered a certificate of valuation at a reduced fee.  The certificate serves as documentation primarily for insurance purposes, ensuring that the new painting is adequately covered.  Additionally, we recommend keeping it on file for provenance, as it contributes to the artwork’s history and authenticity.

Certificates of Valuations

Why do I need a valuation, and can I get one if I didn’t buy through HartFinds?

A professional valuation is essential for insurance, superannuation portfolios, legal matters, estate planning, or resale purposes. You can request a valuation for any artwork—regardless of whether it was purchased through HartFinds.

How much does it cost for a Certificate of Valuation of my original painting?

While a professional valuer usually charges $400+, we have been able to secure a reduced rate of $250 for the 1st piece and $125 for each extra work. If purchasing a painting from HartFinds you will get the reduced rate of $125.

Do you need to physically see the painting or can I send photos?

In most cases (95%), photographs of the front and back of the entire framed artwork are enough for a valuation, but if authenticity is uncertain, a personal inspection may be required.
