Kym Hart is a noted Australian artist born in 1963 in Broken Hill, New South Wales, the second-eldest son of the influential outback painter Pro Hart and Raylee Hart. Growing up amidst his father’s dynamic studio and the ever-shifting mining landscape of Broken Hill, Kym absorbed an early mastery of colour, space, and subject.
Kym began painting while still a teenager and has since developed a versatile career working primarily in oils, though he also uses gouache, watercolor and printmaking. His work draws on rural scenes, outback life, and motifs such as dragonflies, billabongs, and industrial landscapes, all filtered through a lively palette and textural style that echoes his father’s legacy but asserts his own voice.
Throughout his career, Kym has exhibited widely across Australia and abroad, his artwork becoming part of private and corporate collections. With influence from his formative environment in Broken Hill and a commitment to expanding his technique and subject matter, Kym Hart continues to contribute a rich chapter to Australian contemporary art.
