Seven Sisters Dreaming

Tjungkara Ken Original

Seven Sisters Dreaming - Acrylic on Canvas

Pitjantjatjara artist Tjungkara Ken (b. 1969, Amata, SA) began painting in 1997 at Minymaku/Tjala Arts, and since 2008 has emerged as a powerful voice in contemporary Indigenous art. The youngest daughter of esteemed artists Mick Wikilyiri and Paniny Mick, she fuses ancestral knowledge with exceptional technique to portray Dreaming narratives across canvas.

In her sweeping acrylic on linen Seven Sisters Dreaming, Ken traces the story of the Pleiades sisters pursued by Wati Nyiru, depicting roundels for rockholes and watersites, and flowing dotted lines charting their journey through the country. Executed with meticulous dot-work, vibrant hues, and an aerial perspective, the painting becomes a lyrical map of kinship, land, and cosmology.

Through bold experimentation with colour, scale, and pattern, Ken transforms a sacred Tjukurpa into a living visual experience. A founding member of the award-winning Ken Sisters Collaborative, she shared in their 2016 Wynne Prize win and claimed the 2021 Roberts Family Prize (Wynne). Her works are held in major public collections, including the National Gallery of Australia, NGV, AGSA, AGNSW, and QAGOMA, cementing her status as a major figure in Australia’s cultural landscape.

I recently sold a Pro Hart painting on and They handled all aspects of the sale including transport of the painting from my home, located outside Queensland, to the buyer. The service they provided was exemplary. Very professional service. Highly recommended.

Pam McEvoy

I sold my Pro Hart from my home in Europe after owning it for well over 30 years. I was quite cautious about such a long distance arrangement but the gallery was very effective and friendly. Christine offered personal and professional service and guidance. I am also happy that it could be returned to Australia and handled by the Hart family.- the best solution really. Happy to recommend!

A big shout out of thanks and appreciation to Christine and the team who advised us well as we prepared to sell a Pro Hart original: their expert advice, followed trustingly, was rewarded with a prompt sale at a reasonable price.
